In the wake of the many injuries suffered during the 2007 season, Aaron Cooke (Allan’s older brother) has started the Athlete Recovery Fund. The non-profit organization provides provides charitable medical and educational assistance to professional athletes who participate in Freestyle BMX, FMX and Skate.
Following Stephen Murray’s crash in Baltimore last year, Aaron began working alongside Stephen and his family to raise funds. They established short and long term goals, created new merchandising opportunities for the Murray family and spread awareness of Stephen’s situation. These experiences made Aaron realize that the action sports community needed a more established support system. And the result is the Athlete Recovery Fund.
