  • BSD COMPONENTS

  • BSD is the long-running Scottish components company headed up by Dinosaur Jr. fan Grant Smith. For many years, BSD was mainly known for their infamous sprockets and jams, but Grant stepped it up big time in the past few years and started manufacturing components across the board. He also recruited some new French rippers for the team (including Anthony Lille and Julien Leyleroup) and went on a Christmas vacation that lasted like three months.

First up in BSD's latest assortment are handlebars in two varieties. The Too Loose bars (a pun on Anthony Lille's hometown of Toulose, France) feature 13 butted tubing, an 8" rise, a 28" width, 13 degrees of back sweep and 3 degrees of up sweep. They weigh in at 1.45 lbs. The Variety bars are fairly close in size. They additionally sport an 8" rise, but they're narrower (27" width) without as much back sweep (11 degrees).

Next up is the BSD hub guard, designed by Mike 'Jersey' Taylor. The Jersey 2 is constructed of a 7075 aluminum interior with a high grade plastic exterior. It protects hubs and fits all sorts of axles.

Finally is the beast that got BSD here in the first place, the BSD sprocket. Well, not this one. It's been highly refined since the early days of BSD. The latest sprocket featuring 7075 aluminum construction, sizes of 23, 25, 28 and 30t, and colors of black, brown, grey and silver. It's called the Light Sprocket, and it's light.

There you go. New stuff from Scotland's premiere parts company. I would say get it while it's hot, but it never gets hot in Scotland, so I'll instead say to get it while it's wet...
