When it comes down to a frame, is there anything special you look for or need? 20.8” seems long for a small guy in the streets these days...
Shut up. It’s actually pretty small for me at the moment especially with shorter backend and all. Nothing that crazy for me needed in a frame other it rides haha. I just adjust to whatever they give me ya know.
So this current frame is the new UNITED Incarnate frame, is there any plans on a signature Martinez frame in the future?
There actually are plans for a limited edition T-Nez frames being made which I’m real excited about. It’s been a good year for the old man so might as well capitalize on it haha.
165mm cranks might seem short to some people but, seems like more and more people are on shorter cranks these days. Are there any advantages you’ve found in going shorter?
It's about dang time people caught on! I love the way they bring my feet closer being centered over the bike more, plus extra clearance between the back forth peg.
Whats with the sprocket? Seems like this is the first time i’ve seen you running a guard (except the classic Kink one back in the day)?
This one is sick and my first time trying it out. My signature United Machinez sprocket was out of stock so I tossed this on I found in my garage before embarking my West Coast trip. I’ve been bringing back a few classic tricks that involve a deal of sprocket bashing.
You have Machinez bars too? What do you think you’re like that character Machete? whats the story behind that name?
Haha Ian Morris told me it’s what Ralph Sinisi called me every time they spoke of me so after a while it just started sticking and made it my signature parts line.
What are some of the must-have or 'must-do's while setting up a new bike?
Dropouts! I can’t stand to have dropouts hanging lower than the peg so I butcher ever frame I get to my standards.
