PRESS RELEASE:
Costa Mesa, CALIF. (May 23, 2022) – Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, proudly unveils the all-new BMX Style 114, a performance-driven silhouette designed specifically for BMX featuring a colorway in collaboration with Vans athlete Kevin Peraza. Inspired by his childhood growing up immersed in BMX, and with aesthetic nods to his home state of Arizona, the BMX Style 114 delivers durability, support, and impact protection that are born from BMX.
The latest addition to Vans long BMX history, the BMX Style 114 builds on the progression of Vans BMX WaffleCup technology and was designed to help riders like Peraza push themselves further. Intentionally departing from the black hues usually seen in BMX footwear and apparel, Peraza took a fresh direction with the BMX Style 114 by tapping into a light two-tone grey and white suede colorway, supported by apparel featuring an all-over print pant and bucket hat featuring his hand drawn artwork.
Designed specifically with BMX in mind, the BMX Style 114 features BMX WaffleCup construction, with a new Van Doren Factory Pedal Recipe gum rubber compound for increased grip and durability. An integrated toe cap and medial sidewall crank bash reinforcement provide increased durability, while an internal tongue strap locks riders’ feet in place. POPCUSH™ sockliner provides extra cushioning and impact protection. Peraza focused on an all-suede upper with embossed Checkerboard on the quarter panels, and his initials debossed on the heel. Drawing inspiration from his home state, pops of turquoise appear on the heelscab, hang flag and tongue label, the latter of which displays an update to Vans BMX branding.
The Vans x Kevin Peraza apparel collection leads with the Range Relaxed Elastic Pant, as well as an OTW short sleeve tee and bucket hat. Turquoise tones make a reappearance on the casual elastic drawstring of the pants, along with an all-over print featuring Peraza’s hand drawn art.
A part of the Vans BMX team since 2011, Kevin Peraza is a creative force and inspiration to those who choose to follow their dreams. Growing up in Tuscon, Arizona, with his father— Sonora, Mexico BMX pioneer Victor Peraza—Kevin honed his BMX skills alongside his three brothers. His rare hybrid ability to ride street, dirt, and ramp extremely well and his unique riding style have earned him several notable achievements including multiple X-Games medals and being crowned Nora Cup Rider of the Year. Representing a long legacy of BMX and the next generation of talented riders, Peraza’s lifelong dedication to BMX and progression are what set him apart.
The Vans BMX Style 114 by Kevin Peraza and apparel collection will be available beginning June 1, 2022, at Vans retail locations and at vans.eu/bmx.
