You’re from Wales. What are Butch’s top 3 attractions for anyone visiting your country?
1. RUGBY, Go and watch Wales play rugby. Even if you don’t like the sport, you can’t not appreciate how loud and proud the Welsh people are on match day. Beers are good afterwards aswell.
2. WELSHCAKES, just go and buy some freshly baked Welsh cakes and grab a brew. You won’t be disappointed!
3. RAMPWORLD, haha Never disappoints, late night session on a Friday is usually going off. All the boys are there, proper laugh.
How’s the BMX scene where you are?
Ye, the scene is good considering it's quite a small city. It’s usually just the Uncle Tony boys out riding and Jord moved to Cardiff a few months ago so he is out most days which is sick. Their is talk of a new skatepark being built in the city in the near future which would be amazing, hopefully that would give people a little incentive to start riding BMX and keep the scene growing.
Are there any special modifications or things you do when building up a new setup?
I always cut my forks so my stem sits flush with the frame. I think it looks a lot cleaner and just drops the front end a bit. I use a good amount of grease when I build my bike aswell. I find everything feels smoother and better for a lot longer.
What’s your favourite part on your bike?
I’m really liking the Doomsayer frame at the moment. I was honestly a bit sceptical about it at first because the dimensions were so different to my previous frame, especially with how steep the head tube is. But it feels amazing, it’s not too twitchy but still really responsive. The Bottom Bracket height is a little higher aswell so you can run a 28t sprocket and it won’t get caught up on crooks and other stuff. It all makes for a pretty solid frame!
You recently got slapped in the nipple with a fried egg. What are you top moments so far of 2021?
Haha the Fried egg. Don’t really know what was going on there to be honest, we were just yolking around. 2021 has been good so far, DIG put up a Locals edit Jord (Godwin) filmed of me which was sick. I was lucky enough to go on a trip with WTP up north which was amazing, real funny few days that was. Most recently I was able to tag along for a few days with the Doomed boys on a trip they did to London aswell. That was insane, them boys have got it sussed out, nothing but laughs all the time. They’ve also got something in the works which I don’t think anyone is quite ready for!
On the recent WTP UK trip you knocked yourself out and then met Jambul for the first time immediately after. How confused were you?
I hit my head pretty hard on the first day and first spot of the trip, which was shit. I was a little concussed after that just sitting by the rail, then out of no where Jambul comes flying down the hill haha. I mean for most people meeting Jambul for the first time is probably a bit mad, but meeting him while not knowing where the fuck i was, it was crazy haha. I just chilled out that day then and watched him film on the VX. He’s got some confidence with that camera, he waves it round like its a Wand, throwing it, spinning it, Jambul Flipping it hahah it’s insane. So ye, an eventful day to say the least.
