How would you describe your personal bike setup?
I’ve always ridden the same setup; gyro, two pegs and high seat and although it’s not the most modern setup it works for me. I’d like to say my bike is set up to ride anything, street, skate parks or trails.
Which parts of your bikes are you extra picky about?
Grips must have flanges and brake pads must not grip when doing manuals but grip when doing a fufanu.
What parts do you ride the longest?
Definitely pegs. I think a pair of pegs lasts me about 3/4 years and I only usually change them when I can’t fit the 17mm socket down there.
How does it feel to have your own signature frame? Were there any features that were ‘must haves' when working on your frame?
I wanted a strong reliable frame that will feel good to ride on anything, Christoph Huber (Mankind's owner) is way better with geometry than me so I explained how I wanted it too feel and left it to him. He smashed it.
How’d you go about picking the colorways for your signature frame?
My frame comes in red, black and raw. I was dead set on the raw as I love how the welds look and and Christoph came up with the red and black.
Any special mods or things you do when building up a new setup?
Blood, sweat and tears.
What’s your view on BMX scene these days? Anything you’d like to change?
Honestly I think the BMX scene is doing just fine, I notice the people that moan about it don’t really ride any more and the people who do ride just get on with it. I’m also really lucky to live in Brighton which in my opinion has one of the strongest riding scenes in the country.
How was it surviving lockdown in England? How did you spend your time?
I’m extremely grateful to have been able to work the whole way through lockdown as I’m working as a tree surgeon which is classed as a key worker. I know know this is very controversial but I was hitting up some some early solo sessions at the more quiet skateparks near me, and I’ve also just bought a flat so there has been plenty of DIY to get on with.
